2017 Rusty Mutt Catnip Viognier

$23.00 $19.00
Viognier is such a misunderstood variety. Here in Australia, we can produce a highly aromatic, fresh, fruity white wine from Viognier with a wonderful mouthfeel. This lends itself to a very wide range of foods. Many Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Korean dishes work well with the texture and flavours produced by this terrific variety.

2017 Rusty Mutt Rocky Ox GSM

$30.00
Youthful red and purple colours in the glass hint at the bright fruit to come. The aroma shows ripe cherry and strawberry with a savoury/meaty note much like a seared rare steak. Some herbs and spice and fresh mint lightly season this complex wine. The palate feels fine, light and fresh with clean flavours and tight, succinct acidity bringing it to a savoury close. Enjoy with Cantonese style fillet steak, pork ribs, fettucini with porcini and Italian sausage, pizza and Chinese duck dishes. Drink now - 2025 “Complex briary/dark fruit fragrances with hints of spices and light minty notes. Full flavoured ripe berry palate has good complexity, soft tannins and crisp acidity. 5+” WINESTATE MAGAZINE May 2019 Download Tasting Notes;

2015 Rusty Mutt Original Shiraz

$30.00
Where Rusty Mutt began. Our Original Shiraz is a medium to full-bodied McLaren Vale Shiraz that ticks all the right boxes. Hand plunged ferments and basket pressing produces great flavour, richness, and well-balanced acidity. This wine will drink well on release or will look great with the few years in the wine rack.

The colour is a dark ruby/violet with youthful purple hues. Dark cherries slowly reveal themselves after opening, and savoury meats, spices and plums begin to open up with time in the glass. The palate shows a terrific mix of fleshy red fruits, sour cherry, pomegranite juice and bramble berry acidity. Enjoy with Spanish omelete and chorizo, charcuterie - particularly cured pork, meaty tapas, pizza with olive, tomato and proscuitto. Tasting Notes;

2011 Rusty Mutt Original Shiraz

$37.80
James Halliday hit the nail on the head. This Shiraz belies the common beliefs about the 2011 vintage. This wine has wonderful aromatics, typical of the vintage, however, the wine itself is intense and well structured. The fruit is bright and powerful, and the palate is well structured and full of flavour. I believe this wine will outlive most vintages either side of this most terrific 2011.

2014 Vermilion Bird Shiraz

$88.00
Very different vintage conditions in 2014 have produced wonderfully intense, bright and concentrated fruit aromas and flavours in this wine. The fruit comes forward before even the brand new French oak which contained it for two and a half years. Once you see past the fruit, there's a great tannin structure and ample acidity to bring it all together into a very intense, complex and long-lived Shiraz indeed.
An Elegant cool climate style with youthful purple hues, fresh dark fruit aromas and a tightly structured palate loaded with dark cherry and mulberry flavours. Needs more time! 5 Stars, Winestate Magazine.
