Both restaurants and retail outlets always insist on moving to the latest vintage when it’s available. This can lead to left over cases of older vintages with no real home.
All of this great Viognier is sitting in a cold, dark warehouse just waiting for a new home in your fridge!
Viognier is a variety that can grow in complexity with time in the bottle, and these wines are no exception. If you are interested in knowing what a French Viognier tastes like for comparison, look for wines from the Condrieu Appelation.
Unlike varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Gris, Viognier does not neccessarily need a cool climate to produce the best wines. It is genetically very close to Shiraz, and grows in France where Shiraz and Grenache do well, like McLaren Vale here in Australia.
Put yourself together a mixed box of Viognier. I’ll keep this offer here for a while. Some vintages only have a few cases left, others a bit more.

‘Catnip’ McLaren Vale Viognier. Un-oaked, fresh & fruity, great for Spring & Summer lunchtime and evening with friends. Think scallops, chicken caesar salad and pan seared whiting.
‘Rocky Ox’ McLaren Vale GSM (Grenache / Shiraz / Mataro). Medium bodied, low oak with heaps of fruit, spice and complexity. Great with anything from pizza to a barbecue.
‘Conejo Joven’ McLaren Vale Tempranillo. A fruity, medium bodied red with virtually no oak. Just lots of bright fruit flavours with great natural acidity to match with many types of food. Try with salami and chorizo pizza or Italian bbq sausages.
