Rocky Ox 6 pack

Six bottles of our award winning GSM!

Ultimate Viognier Pack

(1 customer review)
Just over $12 per bottle!!

Both restaurants and retail outlets always insist on moving to the latest vintage when it’s available. This can lead to left over cases of older vintages with no real home.

All of this great Viognier is sitting in a cold, dark warehouse just waiting for a new home in your fridge!

Viognier is a variety that can grow in complexity with time in the bottle, and these wines are no exception. If you are interested in knowing what a French Viognier tastes like for comparison, look for wines from the Condrieu Appelation.

Unlike varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Gris, Viognier does not neccessarily need a cool climate to produce the best wines. It is genetically very close to Shiraz, and grows in France where Shiraz and Grenache do well, like McLaren Vale here in Australia.

Put yourself together a mixed box of Viognier. I’ll keep this offer here for a while. Some vintages only have a few cases left, others a bit more.

If you’re wondering, my favourite vintage is 2017. Enjoy!

Scott Heidrich.

Marvelous 3 pack

Feeling adventurous? Try a white that’s not Sauv Blanc. Try a blend that’s not Cab Merlot. And try a varietal that’s not Shiraz!

‘Catnip’ McLaren Vale Viognier. Un-oaked, fresh & fruity, great for Spring & Summer lunchtime and evening with friends. Think scallops, chicken caesar salad and pan seared whiting.

‘Rocky Ox’ McLaren Vale GSM (Grenache / Shiraz / Mataro). Medium bodied, low oak with heaps of fruit, spice and complexity. Great with anything from pizza to a barbecue.

‘Conejo Joven’ McLaren Vale Tempranillo. A fruity, medium bodied red with virtually no oak. Just lots of bright fruit flavours with great natural acidity to match with many types of food. Try with salami and chorizo pizza or Italian bbq sausages.

2018 Rusty Mutt Rocky Ox GSM

A complex, fruity, spicy blend made for easy drinking. Some of the most sought after Grenache from Clarendon is used for this blend which provides serious depth and interest within this wine. No need to save it for a special occasion, this wine will drink well with just about anything!

Grenache 61%, Shiraz 27%, Mataro 12%

McLaren Vale 100%

2019 Rusty Mutt GSM

(4 customer reviews)

Our most recent Grenache Shiraz Mataro release.

The blend structure is as follows;

  • 59% Smart (Clarendon) Grenache
  • 33% Hillside (McLaren Flat) Shiraz
  • 8% Westside Mataro (Whites Valley)

2019 was a terrific Grenache (and McLaren Vale reds in general) year. Really bright vibrant fruit. Full of flavour with great texture, tension and acidity. A stunning wine I’m sure you’ll love!

2017 Rusty Mutt Shiraz

(5 customer reviews)

Our latest vintage release of the ‘Original’ Shiraz.

This Shiraz is a blend of four different vineyards from different parts of McLaren Vale. I chose not to make a Vermilion Bird Shiraz from 2017 and blended it into this wine instead.

  • Aramis vineyard near Aldinga
  • Foggo vineyard between McLaren Vale and McLaren Flat
  • Hillside Vineyard in McLaren Flat at the foot of the hills
  • Linger Longer vineyard in Whites Valley

2017 Was characterised by a moderately wet but very cool growing season. This has lead to the creation of more aromatic wines with fine tannins and great acidity and structure.

2019 Rusty Mutt Tempranillo

(4 customer reviews)

Our next vintage of McLaren Vale Tempranillo has just been bottled. We’ll be sending it out for review soon but the Father-in-law gives it a big thumbs up, even against the 2018 which was his favourite 🙂
