Here are a few of the recent awards and reviews for the three wines in this pack.
2018 Rusty Mutt Shiraz
“Happy days. A great McLaren Vale Shiraz. I haven’t seen these Rusty Mutt wines for a few years. One thing that hasn’t changed is the consistency across the range. The Tempranillo and GSM are right in the slot and this Shiraz is no different. There is much to enjoy here. The licks of caramel, the dense fruit, flashes of licorice and a subtle nudge of herbs. There is a comfort factor that it provides as well. Sips by the camp fire, glasses shared with a steak, the melted chocolate feels through the mouth ensure this slides through with ease. Laced with soft spices, the finish just rolls on and on. Nicely done.”

2018 Rusty Mutt Shiraz
“For fans of big, bruising reds from McLaren Vale, look no further than this densely packed Shiraz that is guaranteed to put a big smile on your face. Deeply coloured, it immediately explodes with lashings of dark fruits; licorice and blackberry essence with a couple of shakes of Szechuan pepper all well matched with high quality oak. Ripe and chunky on the palate, the fruit is plush with an attractive rustic, earthy edge before delivering a long and powerful finish. Super value for big red fans.”

2020 Rusty Mutt GSM
“Delish! Such an easy slurp. An anytime wine given its approachability, and that’s precisely what you want in the glass on many occasions.
What’s not to enjoy? Dark red fruits, char, and earthy feels, each element of the blend contributes well. There is a soothing and charismatic presence about it too. A curious whiff of mint is tucked in behind. Given its approachability, it’s hard to say no to another glass. Woodfired pizza and wing night are sorted.
Drink to five years.”

2020 Rusty Mutt GSM
“Complex & herbaceous character with nice acidity and aromas of ethanol, red fruits, spices & red flowers. Vibrant palate with herbal and mild fruity notes and a smooth finish.”

2021 Rusty Mutt Tempranillo
“This is a nice little addition to the growing range of European styled red wines found around the country with fruit and power dialled down a touch, the result being casual wines well suited to a meal. This is your classic Joven Tempranillo, with delicious fruit purity and generosity of mulberry and dark cherry aromas with nice touches of spice and tobacco. There is then a good mouthful of fruit to begin before tightening up a little to quite a long and savoury finish. Not a serious wine but absolutely hits the spot for good mid-week drinking.”

2021 Rusty Mutt Tempranillo
“This Joven Tempranillo has me thinking of chargrilled beef burgers and I’m not talking about HJs or Burger King. There is an unmissable meatiness and char factor ready to unleash itself on you. Winemaker Scott Heidrich suggests taco night is the go. Either way, you win.
Strawberry and raspberry fruit knit themselves between an earthiness, fine spices and those charry feels. A terrific food wine, there is an ease to its presence in the mouth as it flows through leaving some fine spices to peruse. Large pours come easy with wines like this. It will even take a slight chill. Now, where is that burger?
Drink to three years.”
